Usa tres preguntas sencillas

If you want to start reading the Bible but do not know where to begin, choose a short passage and a time you can return to. You do not need to understand everything on the first day. This guide from Oasis de Amor SC offers a simple way to read, ask questions and keep learning in community.
Start with a story about Jesus
The Gospel of Mark can be a useful starting point: it introduces encounters, teachings and actions of Jesus. Read Mark 1:1–15 slowly. Notice who appears, what happens and which words repeat. If an expression is unclear, write it down to revisit.
You could also begin with John 4:1–26, the encounter at the well explored in our reflection on the wellspring. Read the whole passage before focusing on a single sentence.
Use three simple questions
- What does the passage say, and whom does it address?
- What does it help me learn about God or Jesus?
- What question or response do I want to bring to prayer?
Distinguish what the text says from what you are assuming. Reading the verses before and after a passage often helps more than searching for an isolated phrase.
Try this one-week reading path
- Read Mark 1:1–15 and write one observation.
- Return to the same passage and note one question.
- Read Mark 1:16–20 and notice the disciples’ response.
- Read Psalm 23 and write one thought to pray about.
- Read John 4:1–15 and notice how the conversation starts.
- Continue with John 4:16–26 and revisit your questions.
- Review your notes and share a question with someone at church.
This path is a suggestion, not a requirement or the official discipleship curriculum. If you miss a day, continue the next without turning the practice into a competition.
Choose a Bible you can understand
Use a translation in a language you read comfortably. If you are unsure which to choose, ask the pastoral team for a recommendation and why they use it. A printed edition or an app can work; what matters is being able to read carefully and consult the context.
